Stephen, Below are related emails regarding donating or getting rid of
old macs.

You can give them to our local Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) for a
non-cash donation receipt or post them on a website that links donators
with needy non-profits. Hopefully, donating to the BBBS would be easier
than the website, plus it would be local, but I cannot guarantee that.
You can also get rid of everything electronic at the upcoming hazardous
waste disposal day, April 23. (It only happens once a year.)

I spoke with a board member of BBBS tonight and he said if you wanted
to get a tax write-off, you would have to donate it directly to the
organization, not to the individual "little." The BBBS organization
could give you a tax receipt (YOU have to determine the "fair market
value") and distribute the computers. If you wanted to contact the BBBS
person requesting a mac directly (Kirt Kempter), his email address is
kempter at newmexico.com.

Kirt, if this route is taken, you should probably submit a request to
BBBS specifying you want a Mac (with specs identical to the donated
one) for your "little."

Hope this helps, Keiko Giacona

This is what I found regarding computer recycling in Santa Fe:

http://www.nmcleanandbeautiful.org/
This site is probably what Vint found. It says the waste disposal day
in Santa Fe is April 23, 2006, but it doesn't say much more than that.

http://www.nmrecycle.org/
This site seems to be out of date, but it has some useful info. In the
info for last year's hazardous waste disposal day it said it's at the
Buckman Transfer station and to contact Justin Stockdale at
505-424-1850 for more info. It also has a link to electronic recycling
resources in NM, although it appears some of the links are not working.

This site lets you list your computer equipment for donation to a
non-profit
