[Helpdesk] Can't Unmount/Erase External Drive?

Well, I don¹t have an answer for your inability to unmount the volume, but
have one other recommendation. Consider using Retrospect instead of Carbon
Copy Cloner. Retrospect is a mature and well maintained application that
should be around for many years. I have been using it for the kind of
back-up scheme you speak of. Make sure the target disk does not have ³Ignore
Permissions² checked in the bottom of the Get Info box. The result is that
your back up disk is a bootable replacement should your usual boot drive die
or get lost.
