[Helpdesk] External hard drive problem

Suzanne,

Before you panic and go through the expense of data recovery, take  
the drive to a computer repair person and have them just put the  
actual drive in a different case. Many times it's just the power  
supply inside the case that has gone bad and not the disc itself.  
This happened to me last year and all I had to do was buy a new  
generic case and all was well.
