Lynn -

I'm running Tiger 10.4.6 on an iBook 500MHz G3, 384 MB RAM, 40 GB HD 
with no problems other than certain QuickTime movies that run slowly 
(probably because they've been compressed with a codec that requires a 
lot of oomph to decompress). I can't really address the other questions 
about cost and experience buying notebooks on eBay... Be sure to verify 
the feedback for the seller.
