[Helpdesk] Symantec online upgrade order - a word of warning

Just want to pass on a word of warning.

I ordered a Norton Internet Security 3.0 for Macintosh upgrade on Symantec¹s
website in late May. The upgrade is supposed to include a one-year
subscription to virus updates.

However, no subscription key is provided. When you attempt to download virus
definitions, you get a prompt to purchase a subscription (which in theory
you have already done) and/or provide your subscription key (which you don¹t
have).

I have wasted hours and hours on Symantec¹s website and sending e-mails to
customer service. The replies never address the problem. The last reply
included a phone number to call. I called that number and was given another
number to call for Macintosh support. When I dialed that number, the
connection was cut off.

So I am now requesting a refund. I still have my 3.0 CD bought at Baillio¹s
last year. I will re-install that and then attempt to subscribe online for a
year¹s worth of virus definitions.

To make matters worse, I don¹t think the so-called upgrade was even an
upgrade. I already had Norton Internet Security 3.0, and that¹s what I got.
I already had Norton Anti-Virus 9, but was not upgraded to Norton Anti-Virus
10.
