In 10.4, for some unknown reason Apple has made it possible to select  
Unicode keyboards in non-Unicode applications like AppleWorks. Since  
I usually keep the Unicode keyboard "US Extended" active, when I  
tried to enter text in AppleWorks the app would "unexpectedly quit".  
Drove me nuts until I saw a note somewhere about this. Now I make  
sure to switch to the regular US keyboard when in AppleWorks. I don't  
believe this problem affects 10.3.x, however, as Unicode keyboards  
cannot be selected in AppleWorks in that environment.
