[Helpdesk] Appleworks problem

In answer to your questions after downloaded the attachment (it does not have 
a file extension) and its icon appears on the desktop screen.   I then double 
click the icon and the message about Apple Works quitting appears.   This 
does not occur with all attachments, only some. Could the problem be with the 
origin of the attachment, which comes from a friend who operates windows?   Muli
