[Helpdesk] recommendations on external HD?

  Jill,

  I prefer the LaCie D2 Extreme (series) drives.  They have three 
interfaces - Firewire 800 and 400 plus USB.
  No fans for noise - metal enclosure to radiate heat and an external 
power brick to keep heat down.

  I use their 250GB drive and recommend it.  The current price is 
around $200.  Also look at the 300 GB model.
