Dear Mac User Group Members,
I am a Santa Fe graphic designer (I'm sure I've met some of you) who
also teaches Adobe Illustrator CS2 in the Media Arts Department at
Santa Fe Community College. I am writing this letter to let you know
about an important course offering this coming semester at SFCC that
I will be teaching:
Media Arts 247 01 (30570) Adobe Illustrator II:
A course in Advanced Illustrator Techniques.
The 16-week class will meet Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 4 pm,
starting January 24. This advanced class is not offered every
semester; indeed, this is the first time in recent years that it has
been scheduled.
Those of you who have been using Illustrator will know that Adobe has
more than doubled the power of the program in the last few years.
Such additions as transparancy, 3D rendering, the gradient mesh
(which allows very realistic shading), opacity masks, fully editable
filter effects, and, most recently, live trace and live paint (which
allow you to scan a sketch, quickly change it to vectors and color
it), have made Illustrator into an extremely powerful tool for both
illustration and design. If you have been using Illustrator but have
not explored these (and other) recent additions you should consider
learning them in our constructive, project oriented class. Some
working knowledge of Illustrator is a prerequisite, but a full review
of the basics will be done during the first few weeks.
Please register as soon as possible if you are interested. I would
appreciate it if you would circulate and/or post this letter and the
attached flyer announcing the class. Please contact me if you have
any questions.
Sincerely,
Frank Wechsler
