What with six different types of fonts - some of which can contains thousands of characters - and more than six possible locations for font storage, it's tough to stay organized and work efficiently, and it's maddening when something goes wrong with your fonts and eats an entire afternoon. Here at Take Control Books, we know all about how hard it can be, both from hair-pulling experience and because we've now spent over nine months writing, testing, and polishing a pair of ebooks about how to take control of fonts in Mac OS X. Both ebooks were written by Sharon Zardetto Aker, a veteran Macintosh author best known for her work in the early years of Macworld and MacUser, and on "The Macintosh Bible." Her first ebook, the 255-page Take Control of Fonts in Mac OS X, helps you organize existing fonts, install new ones successfully, and use fonts like a pro (or more to the point, like a pro who knows fonts inside and out!), and it comes with over $80 worth of coupons for discounts on font-related products. Sharon's second ebook, the 120-page Take Control of Font Problems in Mac OS X helps you troubleshoot general font issues and solve specific problems with ease. The ebooks are available separately, or you can save $5 by buying them in a bundle (which is better than the 10% MUG discount). For answers, you can now turn to"Take Control of Running Windows on a Mac," written by installation expert Joe Kissell, who also wrote the highly regarded "Take Control of Upgrading to Tiger." Joe examines why you might want to use a Mac to run Windows, helps you pick the best option for running Windows in your situation, explains the various ways of acquiring Windows legally, and gives detailed, real-world steps for installing Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop, or Q on an Intel Mac. The ebook also explains how to make mice and keyboards work properly, share files across platforms, avoid Windows viruses and malware, and more. Steve provides step-by-step instructions for building an iWeb site and uploading it to .Mac or to your own Web host, and you can look over his shoulder as he works in iWeb's templates with a designer's eye. Steve teaches you the best ways to make the basic iWeb pages, including blog, podcast, and photo pages (via integration with the other iLife '06 applications), but he also offers special coverage that goes beyond the basics. You'll learn how to create eye-catching graphical effects, encode podcasts and videos for use with iWeb, edit graphics so your site loads faster, make image maps, and even set up an online store. For those with multiple sites or multiple Macs, Steve explains how to edit one site on two Macs and how to store multiple sites in multiple iWeb files.
